Prehospital and Emergency Research

Centre for Prehospital and Emergency Research (CPER) is a multidisciplinary research center within Danish Center for Health Services Research focusing on emergency and urgent care, which includes both the prehospital, acute and subacute patient pathways in hospital settings, and in the primary sector, thus constituting a significant research area.
The center utilizes both qualitative and quantitative data from clinical everyday life in the primary sector, secondary sector, prehospital emergency medical services, and across these areas. CPER was established in 2015 based on a donation from TrygFonden to create a professorship in acute and prehospital care – with a particular focus on using prehospital data for research – and is affiliated with both Aalborg University Hospital and Aalborg University. The center has gained significant expertise in these data and provides a nationwide service function by delivering Prehospital Patient Record data for research projects.
CPER conducts health services research focusing on all acute patients to support the treatment of these patients across sectors, and the research includes a wide range of projects.
